Chihuly at the Dallas Arboretum – Highly Recommended

Oh, Sweet Mother of Pearl!  The Chihuly Glass exhibit at the Dallas Arboretum is awesome.  Do plan to go (soon before it gets any hotter).

We have begun to reap the benefits of becoming members of the Dallas Arboretum, and we are glad we joined.  On Thursday, Ever-Lovin’ and I went with good friends Betty and Bob to the Dallas Arboretum on Garland Road to see the Chihuly glass sculptures in the gardens.  Our membership covers admission and parking for up to six people per visit.  What a deal!

Ever-Lovin’ and I first saw some Chihuly’s sculptures at the Museum of Art in Oklahoma City.  I think one of his glass creations was three stories high.  We were eager to see what would be in the gardens, and we were not disappointed.  I heard people exclaim how the glass glistened in the sun.  Another said the sculptures reminded them of Mardi Gras.  Each piece is hand blown, and then individually attached to a central structure.

Of course, the silver (clear) and blue Texas Star touched my heart.  The Cowboys need this piece!

Look at these tall reeds surrounding the green glass water plant.  Stunning!

Loved, loved, loved the white water lilies.

The boats filled with spheres and tendrils are colorful and wonderful.  Gorgeous view.  The canoes could float into eternity – (but then again – White Rock Lake isn’t that big.  Sorry to ruin the mood.)  Honestly though, just look at the different colors of the spheres.  Unbelievable!

Here are a few more picture, and then you are going to have to go and see for yourself.

FYI: The Arboretum is also sponsoring Chihuly Nights.  The glass sculptures will be illuminated.  Can’t wait to see them dazzling in the lights.  Some nights there will also be a concert.  How wonderful is that.  You can take a picnic supper, sit on your Grandmother’s quilt under the stars, hear beautiful music, and see the art of Chihuly in all its glory.  Do plan to go.

Blessings to  you and yours,
