The Nitty-Gritty of Planning the Party

Fair warning!  The pictures you are about to see are not pretty.  Two days before the party is not pretty, but I thought you might need to know a few of the behind the scenes parts of a party.

First problem.  What I decide today will probably change  – sort of like Texas weather.  I make lists of lists, and then revise the lists.

Ever-Lovin’ went to the church and borrowed over 50 chairs.  Major effort!  That is a chore, and to think – they have to be returned.

Now that you have seen my garage, are we still friends?  I hope this isn’t a deal breaker.

Ann and Bob loaded up and brought us two long rectangle tables – thank you!  Major effort on their part!

See that bare area of ground cover that died last summer during the drought.  It will not grow back by Saturday.

Ever-Lovin’ hung the first pennants.  Again, major effort!  (I did try to help.)  This is just the first of many.

True confession:  Not knowing about the food is a little scary for me.   EVERYONE is so kind and willing to bring side dishes and desserts, but …  Sometimes pot luck dinners can be one sided.  I remember one time we had 6 corn casseroles, and not much else.  Of course, all of the corn casseroles were good, we ate them, and we are still living to laugh about that dinner.  I think the other side of the coin is that I love to cook. Says I to myself – “I would love to make this, or I would love to make that”.  For me cooking is fun and relaxing.  Perhaps I will make just one little dish.  Did you see Sonny Anderson’s Patriotic Berry Trifle on this week’s Food Channel email?  Be still my heart!  It looks so good, and easy.

Thank you friends for helping with the party!  I am blessed with good friends who always make parties fun.

Looking forward to Saturday.  We will be celebrating Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee with a yard party (The Big Supper) just like they will be doing in England.  How cool is that?

Long Live the Queen!

Blessings to you and yours.
