Crossroads Diner

Crossroads Diner!  Have you eaten there?  If not, then you must.

The first time I heard about this restaurant was one morning on Good Morning Texas.  On that show, Chef Tom Fleming said he opened a breakfast and lunch diner so he could have more time to spend with his family.  I liked that and was impressed.

The fact that Crossroads Diner is on Walnut Hill Lane across from Presbyterian Hospital made it an easy place for us to try.  And, am I ever glad we did.

D Magazine (2012) named Crossroads Diner Best Breakfast in Dallas, and it might well be.  It would get my vote.  Their major claim to fame is their sticky buns.  Be still my heart!  They are beyond delicious.  The yeasty rolls are filled with cinnamon, brown sugar, and pecans.  Then said cinnamon roll is covered with an oozing caramel and pecan sauce.  Yummy, yummy, yummy!  More than once they have been sold out of sticky buns when we first arrived, but we were assured that there were more in the oven.  Just wait and you shall receive.  Waiting for the humongous (meaning – one is enough to share) gooey sweet roll is worth the wait. Think of it this way, you can have this goodness as a breakfast appetizer or as a breakfast dessert. No matter what, sticky buns are worth the wait.  Oh, I have already said that, but you get the message!

The sticky buns are not the only delicious thing on this menu.

We have not been disappointed in anything we have ordered – Applewood smoked bacon, fresh country sausage, corned beef hash, farm fresh eggs, three egg frittatas, light and fluffy buttermilk pancakes (made in small batches), homemade biscuits, gravy, and  stoneground slow cooked grits.  Oh, how I love their grits.  Crossroads Diner’s grits have changed my life.  I always liked the cheese grits made from an old Helen Corbett recipe, but grits at a restaurant were not for me.  Ugh!  Why did Ever-Lovin’ order grits?  I thought restaurant grits tasted yucky like sawdust.  Then one day I tasted Ever-Lovin’s grits at the Crossroads Diner.  They were creamy and delicious with a little sprinkling of white cheddar cheese.  Sweet Mother of Pearl, they are good!  Now I order them every time we eat at the Crossroads Diner.

The chandelier hanging in the main room of the diner is made from huge mixer whisks.  How clever is that?

Eating breakfast out is an enjoyable thing, and eating breakfast at the Crossroads Diner is a wonderfully enjoyable and delicious thing.  Hope you enjoy eating at the Crossroads Diner as much as we do.

Blessings to you and yours,
