Bread Winners Cafe and Bakery

I do love – love – love to eat breakfast out, and today Ever-Lovin’ and I got to go to one of our favorite places – Bread Winners Cafe and Bakery.  When you have to fast because you are going to have routine blood work done early in the morning, you get to eat out.  (A little reward.)

I remember the first time Day Nell and I stumbled upon the Bread Winners on McKinney Avenue in Dallas.  It was many years ago, and we had been out doing Lord only knows what.  We had not eaten, and when we saw this restaurant in what they now call Uptown with a lot of cars surrounding it we thought, “Why not?”  Now I am sure the rest of Dallas knew about Bread Winners as evidenced by the number of patrons inside, but for us on that particular morning, it was a serendipity.

While I still love going to the Uptown location on McKinney Avenue, we also enjoy the Plano location on Preston Road.

The decor is good – big thick gold framed mirrors, and more mirrors.

Check out this wall of mirrors.  I like it, I love it!

Each location has a hanging bottle tree. (I guess that is what you call it.)  Pretty neat!  The hostess told us the owner makes one for each restaurant.

The main reason we go to Bread Winners is their delicious food.  They start the meal off right.  Fresh muffins and pastries are brought to the table when you are seated. Yea!

As usual we were hungry and forgot to take pictures before we started eating.  Ever-Lovin’ got the basic breakfast, and it was a good basic breakfast.

Look at this.  I got Carmen’s French Toast.  It is a cinnamon raisin French toast covered with fresh cut fruit.  Be still my heart!  Talk about delicious.  FYI: The serving are humongous.  This was the small order of Carmen’s French Toast.  It was two large slices of cinnamon raisin French toast, and  enough fruit for Cox’s Army.  (Translated = there was a lot of fresh fruit.)

Check out the menu on the link above.  There are pomme de terre casseroles (potato casseroles), scrambles, eggs Benedict, and several kinds of pancakes and French toast.  As Ever-Lovin’ would say – “Good stuff.”  They serve brunch on the weekends, and it can be very crowded.

As you leave, you pass by the pastry displays.  The cakes and pies are beautiful, and they also have muffins, cookies, and pastries for sale.

Hanging over the pastry cases is perhaps my favorite decor item at the Preston Road Bread Winners – a flying pig!  What do you think?  Would a “If Pigs Could Fly” party be fun?

Isn’t he cute!

We love to bring out-of-town guest to Bread Winners.  It is elegant yet casual, and the food is delicious.

Blessings to you and yours,
