Portals to the Season

In the last couple of days, Super Sister and Mikel (Number One Son’s wife) have created impressive (That is an understatement.) Christmas decor for their front doors.  I have to share their creations with you.  Perhaps you will be inspired, and make something remarkable for your front portal.

Mikel created this mesh Christmas wreath.  My, oh my!  This wreath is good looking.  The green mesh with the red plaid ribbon is so festive.  She began with a greenery wreath base (we bought the greenery wreaths at a thrift shop), and used the branches to secure two rows of the mesh ribbon.  Then she added the red plaid ribbon, and the burlap accent ribbon.

This is so pretty.  The burlap ribbon and red shiny Christmas balls create a great contrast.

The vintage looking Santa head is from Hobby Lobby.  What a wonderful greeting for her front door.  I like it.  I love it.

Then, Super Sister sent me pictures of her front porch.  It it literally over the top.

Be still my heart.  This is Super Sister’s front porch.  First, notice the candy canes standing at attention along the walk – so good looking.  Then there is “The Door.”  Wow!

Super Sister used the red, white and green mesh ribbon.  The ribbons are attached to a lit greenery garland that surrounds the door.  Super Sister said the project was more difficult than she thought it would be, and she worked on the door for three days. (I translate this to mean – “don’t try this at home”.)  But some of you are also super crafty, and you could do it.  Since the garland is pre-lit, it shines through the ribbon at night.  SS says it is good.

This close up picture shows the green and red accent ribbons and picks.  This entrance is cheery and inviting.  One can sense the fun and merriment that will await anyone who enters through this door.

Instead of a wreath, Super Sister created this fantastic candy cane decoration for her door.  She used a candy cane shaped greenery form for the base.  Again the mesh ribbons were attached to the greenery. Christmas picks and ribbon accents were attached, and then a giant candy cane was added.  Beautiful!

These projects are shared with you to inspire you.  What a joy to enter through these beautifully decorated doors.  Even if I am not crafty, I am going to try to make a Christmas wreath for our front door.  I am inspired. Hope you are also.

Thank you Mikel and Super Sister for sharing.

Blessings to you and yours,
