Julie’s MacKenzie Childs Inspired Home

Julie is my friend Mrs. Ralph’s good friend.  Julie is young, successful, pretty, funny, and an all around wonderful person.  Julie and Mrs. Ralph are on the same page when it comes to decorating.  Last year Julie visited the MacKenzie Childs’ store in New York City, and she was inspired.  Mind you, her home was already beautiful, but Julie was determined to created the MacKenzie Childs’ look in her own home.

For months we have been asking Mrs. Ralph to arrange a tour for us, and last week it finally happened.  Julie was always ready to let us tour, but we couldn’t get our act together.   Let it be known – her home  is beyond wonderful.  It is another home worthy of being on a home tour.  So here we go.

Be still my heart.  From the minute you enter Julie’s home you feel warm and comfortable.

The dining room wall is the focal point for this room.  Julie told us that a friend took her to the  MacKenzie Childs’ store in New York City, and there was a checkered wall in the store.  Julie immediately felt a connection with this style and was determined to add the look to her home.

When she returned home, she set about to paint this checkered wall.   Julie told us that after she had painted the second square she realized the enormity of the project and contemplated stopping, but she persevered, and it is beyond wonderful.  In order to accomplish this look, major laser measuring and taping was required.   After painting the squares the wall was then glazed.

Julie painted the gold walls in the dining room and living room three times before she was satisfied with the color. Good looking.

Julie also glazed her cabinets for a fantastic look.  They were stark white before the glaze.  I am here to tell you that this is one talented lady.

A collection of crosses hang in her hall.

I like it.  I love it.  This is Julie’s bedroom.  The red Anthropology spread is beautiful. The zebra print rug is the perfect accent.  What a good look!

Here is a closer look.

In the guest bedroom/office is an iron bed with a colorful coverlet  (I think it is also from Anthropology.  Their things are so cute and fresh looking.).  Sweet Mother of Pearl, I do love this.

What a beautiful picture of Julie with her mother and sister.  They are all gorgeous.

Back in the living room there are other touches of “MacKenzie Childs”.

What a cool frame.

Mrs. Ralph found the candle stands for Julie at a consignment shop.  Wow!

And there is even a piece of the real thing- a MacKinzie Childs’ vase.  This piece was given to Julie by some overnight house guest.  “They can stay ANYTIME they like.”

Can you believe that one young lady has a house this wonderful?  She is beyond amazing.  I admit.  I almost covet this table decor, but I know it is a sin to covet, so I am happy to know someone who has created such a beautiful table.  Still would it be too bad to wish I had this look also?  The greenery with the  red balls, the deer, the rustic Santa, the iron lantern, and candle holders with the red candles create the right balance between rustic and elegant.

Thank you Julie for letting us tour your home.  It is truly beyond wonderful.

Blessings to you and yours,
