Upwards Basketball

Upwards Basketball is a wonderful program whose goals are to:

  • Teach sport skills and values
  • Offer family-friendly schedules
  • Allow kids to make new friends
  • Provide equal playing time

Hot Rod has been in this program for four years.  Now he plays on the big court.

He plays a good game of defense.

The games are held at First Baptist Church Richardson and the First United Methodist Church of Richardson.

These are the “action” shots.  Blurry – but full of action.  Run, Hot Rod, run.

During half-time of each game, there are devotionals that teach Christian values and sportsmanship.  I look forward to these talks.  Many of the talks encourage the children not to set limits on themselves.  Many athletes have had handicaps and been successful.  Others have been short, fat, or overcame other hardships and were winners.  I love character stories.

In this league, everyone gets to play at least half of each game.  I like it.  I love it.

Competition is taught, but the children playing the game are valued.

Two points!  Yea!

Isn’t this child too cute.  He wanted me to take his picture.  I know he will play Upwards Basketball in the near future.

It is so much fun going to Hot Rod’s games.  We are blessed that he lives near us.

Blessings to you and yours,
