Turkey Sausage Crumbles

This is another public service announcement,  You are loved, and I want you to know about Jimmy Dean Fully Cooked Hearty Sausage Crumbles – Turkey.

Backstory:  A few days ago a friend asked me what I cooked for breakfast each morning.  I mentioned that it was pretty boring – sometimes we have a breakfast skillet made with two eggs, turkey sausage crumbles and a little cheese.  She had never heard of sausage crumbles – much less turkey sausage crumbles and wanted to know more.  I thought if she had never heard about the sausage crumbles, maybe you haven’t either, and maybe you would like to know more about Turkey Sausage Crumbles also.

BC (Before Crumbles) I would fry a pound of sausage at the beginning of each week, and then use about 1/5 of a pound of sausage each day to make a breakfast skillet.  Then I went to visit Super Sister, and my world changed.  She introduced me to turkey sausage crumbles. Turkey sausage crumbles are delicious – taste great.  They have 60% less fat than regular sausage – a good thing.   They have a bazillion fewer calories than regular sausage – wow.  And they are fully cooked and ready to use in skillet dinners, pizza, quiche or any other dish you create.  What is not to love?

Here is the deal.  One-half cup of fully cooked sausage crumbles is considered a serving.

A serving of regular sausage crumbles has 200 calories and 18 grams of fat.

A serving of turkey sausage crumbles has 70 calories and 4 grams of fat.  Big difference!

A heaping 1/2 cup of turkey sausage crumbles and two eggs make a skillet breakfast for both of us.  Sometimes I add a little cheese and salsa.

It is seldom that I feel that I eat healthily (I am trying to be better), but each morning I am amazed at our breakfast.  On this morning we toasted left-over rolls from Spring Creek BBQ.  Life is good.

Super Sister used the crumbles to make migas.  Be still my heart.  The sausage with the fresh vegetables was fantastic.

Super Sister added green onions, fresh tomatoes, and pickled jalapeños to the meat.  Wish you could have smelled this.  Oh, my!

Then she added cheese and some torn tortillas.  Sweet Mother of Pearl.  It was beyond delicious.  (In the lower left hand corner do you see the head of a duck.)

How strange is that?  I guess I am the strange one.  Sorry to digress.

See why she is called Super Sister.  Along with the migas, we had queso, guacamole and green sauce.  I am here to tell you that it was better than any bed and breakfast.  Wish I could have these for breakfast in the morning.

Blessings to you and yours,

Oh, FYI:

The package has a “Fresh Seal Zipper”.  Since it is easy to close, use what you need and save the rest.

Jimmy Dean brand also sells “Hot Hearty Sausage Crumbles”.  They are very good, but not as healthy.
