Hot Rod the Performer

What a big weekend Hot Rod had.  First was his spring recital, and then he had a music program at church.  Please indulge a grandmother.  I am so proud of him and his accomplishments.

GUITAR RECITAL:

Hot Rod began guitar lessons last fall.  This was his second recital, and I could see the improvement.  He played Snake Charmer, and even I could tell it was much harder than the piece he played at the last recital.  It is good to see his progress.  I love how he purses his mouth when he plays the guitar.

This is most of the group in this recital.  See the little boy in the white suit.  He played the piano, and did an excellent job.  He is so tiny and cute.  All of the children did great.

CHURCH MUSICAL:

The Music Time PreK-4 year olds and the Kindergarten children performed Sing for Spring.  I love hearing these precious children sing and praise God.  Mikel, Number One Son’s wonderful wife, helps with these little ones.  Tyler and Brian were great park rangers.

Two children performed solos.  Be still my heart.  Was I ever impressed.  They were good.  I couldn’t get a picture of Jay doing an excellent job playing the piano because I wasn’t on the right side of the auditorium.  (Well, actually I was on the right side, and Jay was on the left side so I wasn’t on the correct side to be able to take a picture. – I knew you would understand.)  This is Zachary.  He plays the viola very, very well.  Both of these musicians were fantastic.

Then it was time for The Good News Cruise presented by Music Makers & Young Musicians.  That cute boy on the top row is Hot Rod singing his heart out.

Hot Rod and Caroline ( I hope I am right about her name.) were mission kids.

They were too cute.

Great truths were told during the musical.  It was a blessing to hear the children sing the Good News.  It was also wonderful that serving and ministering to others was part of the program.  What a fantastic message.

After the program, Hot Rod was given an award for learning all of the monthly hymns this year.  It was a gift card to Yummilicious.  He was too busy looking at the card to look at the camera for a picture.  Of course, we headed over to Yummilicious to celebrate.

Blessings to you and yours,

Jesus loved/loves children.  He enjoyed having them nearby.  (Matthew 19:14)  It is a blessing to be a part of a church that loves and nurtures children.  It warms my heart to know that First Baptist Church Richardson teaches children about God’s love, and how they can serve Him.

A big shout-out is in order to all the workers in the children’s choir ministry.  What a fantastic job you do!
