Shady’s Burger Joint

It is exciting when new restaurants open in the burbs.  For sometime now, we have been watching work on a new burger joint at II Creeks Plaza in Richardson (2701 Custer Parkway, 75080).  Shady’s Burger Joint opened in April, and we were eager to give it a try.  The restaurant had been opened only a little over a week when we visited, – too soon to be reviewed. There were a few kinks, but there is definitely potential.  Friend BB went last week and loved it.  So here’s to Shady’s Burger Joint – the new kid on the block.

The decor and atmosphere of the burger joint is inviting.  The large patio with overhanging shade trees was a perfect place to sit and relax on this warm spring day.

We were a little confused where to enter the restaurant.  Then we felt silly when we realized that there are two entrances – one facing Custer Road, and the other facing the parking lot.

The decor is inviting.  Metal chairs, wood topped tables, wooden accents and industrial lighting gives the space a comfortable feel.    You order at the counter and then find a place to sit.  A waitress comes to your table for drink orders.  She was very friendly and gave excellent service.

Shady’s Burger Joint has a full bar that opens to the restaurant and also to the patio.  Great!

Love this patio.  It is huge, and seems to be a fantastic place for people in the neighborhood to gather.

The food was good.  The challah bun was great.  The meat on the burger was a little too pink for my taste, but now I know better how to order.  Fries could have been a little crispier.  Using aluminum trays for plates is such a cute idea.  I liked them.  I loved them.

Ever’Lovin enjoyed a burger called The Hood.  It had avocado, grilled onions, and jalapeños.  Yummy.  He also gave the onion rings high marks.

Shady’s Burger Joint is open late, and I hear they have live music on some nights.

I do hope Shady’s Burger Joint does well.  Having local “joints” help the neighborhood.  There are several other excellent restaurants in this shopping center, and Shady’s Burger Joint should have great potential – especially since it is a fun and inviting place in an excellent location.

Blessings to you and yours,

FYI:  Ever-Lovin’ added a tip to the bill at the counter when he ordered.  After our meal, he mentioned to our sweet waitress that he had tipped at the counter.  She told him she didn’t get any of those tips.  Doesn’t seem right.  She deserved a tip, but we didn’t want to tip twice.

Please remember.  When we visited Shady’s Burger Joint, it had just opened.  We are looking forward to returning.
