Kristin’s Home Tour

Kristin invited us for a home tour.  Yea!  For a month of Sundays, I have been waiting to visit Kristin home again.  And the best part is – I get to share this beautiful home with you.

Love the exterior.  Grey painted bricks, black shutters and white accents give a fresh crisp look to the front of the house.  The pop of color from the red bench on the porch is wonderful.  Of course, it doesn’t hurt that there is a magnificent tree gracing the front yard.

We were greeted at the front door by two precious Mousketeers – Sophie and Gabriel.  Sophie was so excited to show us her room.

I understand why Sophie is so proud of her room.  It is darling.  The pink and pale lime walls are perfect for this little girl.  What a great idea to replace the closet door with curtains.

DSC_0495

Sophie has  a girly room without it being too fussy.  This is the only picture I got of beautiful Kristin.  She is such a dear.

DSC_0498

What a fun playroom.  The polk-a-dots on the walls make the room look like  fun and exciting place.

DSC_0507

it is amazing how organized all of the rooms are.  I am impressed.

One of my favorite ideas in this room is the toy closet.  Kristin and Rob removed the door to the closet and added shelving.  The children can easily get their toys, and they know where the toys belong.

Then we got to see birthday boy’s room.  Gabriel’s room is so cute with the swinging monkeys.  When Kristin and Rob moved into this home, the walls in this room were painted brown.  Kristin left the brown on one wall, but added the blue and green walls to make the room lighter and brighter.

The decals on the closet doors are from different decal sets.  Kristin applied the decals, and then used an exacto knife to cut where the doors fold.  The great thing about these decals is that they can easily be removed.

DSC_0508

I thought the doors and walls had been painted, but these are decals.  Wow!  I like it.  I love it.

DSC_0516

Kristin used the cutest knobs in Gabriel’s room   There were bananas on the closet doors.DSC_0525

Monkeys pulls were on the chest-of-drawers.

Throughout their home, Kristin and Rob have use tartan in honor of their Scottish roots.

DSC_0531

The tartan accent pieces are beyond wonderful

DSC_0532

What also impresses me is how well done all the tabletop displays are.

DSC_0546

There are even tartan accents in the bathrooms.  Love the soap.

DSC_0537

Kristin purchased this darling finger towel on Ebay.

DSC_0538

This is fun!  Her skirt lifts up and you can see her “naughty bits”.

DSC_0544

Country Roses with tartan make for a charming bathroom.

DSC_0574

Sweet Mother of Pearl.  What a beautiful room!

DSC_0576

I love all the pretties.

DSC_0575

I think the sofa was from a consignment shop.  It goes so well in this room.

DSC_0552

When Kristin special ordered these chairs, the clerk questioned whether or not she really wanted “red”.  Little did he know how good they look in her home.

DSC_0571

A tartan chest – Good looking!

DSC_0559

I love the mixture of plaid and floral pillows on the red checked sofa.

DSC_0550

The wet bar is now a coffee bar.  Again, I L-O-V-E the tartan mugs.  Kristin is also collecting English rubbings.  They are perfect for her home.

DSC_0584

Most of the tartan dinnerware was purchased on Ebay.  I really try not to covet these dishes.

DSC_0566

The kitchen is bright and cheerful with all the red pieces.  The antique stained glass window goes perfectly in this room.

I love everything about Kristin’s home – the tartan, the red accents, the  beautiful displays, but I have to admit that the one thing I wish for is her….

DSC_0579

…BUTLER’S PANTRY.  This picture only shows a small portion of this room.  I know people who have smaller bedrooms. The pantry is wonderful.

DSC_0560

Gabriel had his first birthday, and Kristin and Rob threw a grand party.

DSC_0593

There were wraps for the water bottles that Kristin created on the computer.

DSC_0595

Be still my heart.  Kristin made the cutest Micky Mouse cookies.   She dipped an Oreo in red chocolate melts, and added white eyes.  Then she touched the brown melts on the side of the double boiler until they were just beginning to soften.  She placed the chocolate melts between the cookie layers to create ears.  These are so cute I want to make them just because.

Kristin and Rob, your home is beyond wonderful.  I know when I was your age there was no way I could have had such a beautiful home.  For that matter, I don’t have such a home now.  Thank you for sharing.
