Walking the Neighborhood

I have friends that do the right thing.  They eat healthy food and exercise.  Dear friend Jorene is one of those people.  She cares about me and desires that I exercise.  In a recent conversation she begged me to exercise because of the overall health benefits.  Okay, she made an impression.  I have now walked three days in a row.  That is not amazing – just baby steps.  I will keep you posted.  By posting this on the bog, maybe I will feel some sort of compulsion to keep up the effort.

The walk in the neighborhood was great.

I had my phone with me, and when I saw this in Jim and Linda’s yard, I had to take a picture.  Did you know that people are joining together to pray for our city?  On Saturday mornings from 8-9, at the Civic Center Fountain, there are dedicated Christians joining together to pray.  2 Chronicles 7:14 is a much quoted verse, but they included verses 13 and 15 also.

13 “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, 14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.

I remember first hearing this verse in a sermon by Dr. Landes, and I considered it a verse for the Bicentennial. When the bad things in life come, humble ourselves, pray, seek God’s face, and turn from wicked ways.  God will hear from heaven, forgive our sins, and heal our land.  For this I pray.

After taking one picture, I noticed other things I liked.  What is this?  All I know is that it is pretty.

Amazing – This beauty grows on a single stalk.

When walking, at times one has to compete with the sprinklers.  The mature trees in our neighborhood are lovely.

It is always so beautiful to see homes that regularly fly the flag.  I love this home with the swing on the front porch.

Across the street is a another swing.  Can’t you just imagine sitting out here swinging.  I do love it.

Recently this house burned.  It burned bad.  Thankfully no one was injured.  It is good to see that progress is being made.  They now have a new roof, and perhaps the rebuilding will soon be finished.

Sweet Mother of Pearl.  This is another beautiful home flying flags – How great that there is also a Texas flag.  They are my kind of people.

Now, I am on flag alert.

Warms my heart.

Just look.  A flag on a flagpole.  How wonderful to live in a neighborhood that loves the Lord, and our country.  Makes me proud.

Blessings to you and yours,

To join the prayer group at the Civic Center Fountain is on my to do list.
