Driving Around Weatherford Town

Some of you are too young to remember the pleasures of a Sunday afternoon drive.  It was a time when cars were used for pleasures, and people enjoyed a leisurely afternoon seeing favorite sites around town.

It wasn’t a Sunday, but Jorene drove around the bounty of historical homes in Weatherford, and it was a treat.

This is the home of Weatherford’s “Peter Pan” – Mary Martin.  It reminds me of a home in Hollywood.

This home was an earlier home of Mary Martin.  Just look at all the rockers on the porch.

The second story balcony and large front porch on this home are wonderful.  I dream about sharing tea on a veranda like this.

homes3

Be still my heart.  This home is beautiful, and it has the wrap-around porch of my dreams.

homes4

The porches – oh, how I love porches.

homes7

So many of the home were flying flags.  The bunting on this home looked good.

homes8

Wow!  This entrance with the stone arch was very impressive.

homes9

The little glass greenhouse was built to compliment the original house.

You could tell that many of the homeowners had paid close attention to paint choices when they restored the homes.

The gingerbread trim on this home is ornate, and the paint colors are so pretty.

White houses with black trim – one of my favorite things.  It was amazing that there were so many beautiful homes in Weatherford.

I think Jorene said that the inside of this home is filled with beautiful things, but the yard is a little scary (my thoughts).

There were also smaller cottages that were so welcoming.

I like it.  I love it.  Wow!

The stone retaining wall got my attention.

I could live here and enjoy this screened in porch.

The driving tour was grand.  I would love to do it again, but next time I will take notes.

Blessings to you and yours,

There is a tour of homes in Weatherford once a year, and some of the houses will be on tour.  I would LOVE to get to see inside any of these homes.
