Wedding Shower Menu

Some of my dear precious readers ask me for menus from our parties.  I aim to please – drum roll please.  This is the menu for Stephanie’s Art Deco Wedding Shower.  Perhaps you can say, we were “Putting on the Ritz.”

Sweet Mother of Pearl.  Pat’s dining room table was filled with pretty and delicious treats.  Oh, how I wish I had some of these goodies to eat right this very minute.  Everything was as delicious as it was pretty.

While planning Stephanie’s shower, the hostesses decided that the Petit Fours would be the main sweet, and the other appetizers would be savory.  For those of you who live in Dallas, we bought the Petit Fours at Casa Linda Bakery.  It is located at 10819 Garland Road.  Several years ago – before Lanabird – Ever-Lovin’ and I  made a survey of Petit Fours in Dallas.  At that time, I was helping with a shower and was responsible for supplying the Petit Fours.  We thought it would be fun and educational to sample Petit Fours from various bakeries around town.  I think we went to six or seven bakeries that day.  In our humble opinion, the Petit Fours at Casa Linda Bakery were the hands down winner – in both the taste and price categories.  The price of their Petit Fours has increased some in the past few years, but they are still more reasonable than most other bakeries in town.  (Casa Linda Bakery does not know me.  I am just sharing.)

Stephanie is a vegetarian, and the hostesses thought it would be a good thing for our menu to be vegetarian.  We did NOT feel obligated to do this – it just seemed fun to see if we could created a vegetarian menu for the shower.

Friend Sheila is an amazing cook, and her presentation skills are legendary.  Sheila stuffed Little New Potatoes with Potato Salad.  Yummy!  (I promise to try to get recipes for you.)

table 8

Be still my heart.  Sheila also made these little Puff Pastry Tarts Filled with Apples, Cranberries, Almonds and Brie.  They were divine and so pretty.

table 20

Sheila also created these little tasty Pecan Puffs.  They literally melted in our mouths.

table 15

Cherry tomatoes (The fancy kind that are various colors.) were stuffed with a Vegetable Cream Cheese mixture.  I loved these.  Sheila used snipped chives for garnish – great look.

table 11

Sliced cucumbers were also topped with the Vegetable Cream Cheese mixture.  The cucumbers were sliced and slightly hollowed out to create an indention to hold the filling. This is a great alternative to cucumber sandwiches.

table 24

Excellent Cook Nancy brought these fantastic artichoke balls.  They are delicious, and I do want this recipe.  It amazes me how Excellent Cook Nancy can create tidbits that are perfectly uniform in size.  Wow!

table 9

Strawberries with cream fluff were on the Petit Fours tray.  The cream fluff is not as messy as powdered sugar.  Look at the serving spoons in the strawberries.  Excellent Cook Nancy is the proud owner of these antique spoons – from a great uncle I do believe.  I like them.  I love them.  I know it is wrong to covet, but….  I don’t want her spoons, I just wish I could find some like them to buy.

table 6

Fig and Blue Cheese Savouries and White Pimento Cheese Sandwiches are recipes I have shared in the past.  The Fig and Blue Cheese Savouries were cut into heart shapes and glazed with fig preserves.  These are really a blue cheese cracker that is easily made in a food processor.  I first thought I would omit the fig preserves, but the crackers weren’t as good without the figs.  The White Pimento Cheese is one of my party staples.  It is made with three types of white cheeses – Montery Jack, White Cheddar, and Gruyere.  What is not to like?

table 10

Sesame Asparagus Roll-Ups is another recipe I got from The Queen of Everything.  In another post, I will share this recipe.  I loved having an excuse to make these.

table 21

Punch was super simple and refreshing.  It was an equal blend of White Grape Juice with Sprite.  (You could also use ginger ale.)
