Cafe Max

Cafe Max is a restaurant that is literally down the road from our home.    Recently we (Ever-Lovin’, Jenny- Number Two Son’s wonderful wife – and I) stopped there for lunch.  Sweet Mother of Pearl.  As we drove up, I realized – I had not blogged about Cafe Max.  This popular Richardson lunchtime restaurant is certainly blog worthy, so I feel a slight obligation to give it a big shout-out.  Also, if you do not know of Cafe Max or it has been a while since you last dined there, you need this information.

Cafe Max is located at the corner of Alma and Collins.  This is the Alma that is in East Richardson – not the Alma in Dallas.  It is also the street that is Audelia in Dallas, Grove between Buckingham/Centennial and Arapaho, and then Alma north of Arapaho until it turns into Greenville.  Confused??  I thought you would be.  Many old-timers do not understand this.  In fact, who could possibly understand it?  This confusion does not hinder the crowds from frequenting Cafe Max.  If you serve delicious food for reasonable prices, people will come, and the people have been coming to Cafe Max for over twenty years.

During all these years, I do not believe the menu has changed.  Eight fresh salads are offered on a daily basis.  If you order the Sampler, you get a sampling of all eight salads plus a roll or a delicious zucchini muffin (My choice!  Yummy!).  Salads include – Caesar, Pasta, Potato, Cucumber, Vegetable, Fruit, Seafood, and Chicken.  The portions are generous, and all of the salads are delicious.  I am particularly partial to the Chicken Salad.  It is made with large pieces of chicken with red and green bell peppers, apples, pecans, and more.  I looked on the internet, and could not find a copycat recipe – one did come close but… I do not think it is the real thing.  No matter.   I like it.  I love it.  When I want it, I am happy to buy it.

The quiche plate includes a large slice of quiche and your choice of two (non-meat) salads.  Isn’t that purdy?  Many people think the quiche at Cafe Max is the best, and they have been known to serve said quiches at their luncheons.  I do not blame them.  When something is this good, why not?

In this picture you can more easily see the flecks of flavor in each salad and the quiche.  Other options on the menu include a Salad Trio – your choice of three salads, or the Half-Half – your choice of two salads.

Soups and sandwiches are also available.  Delish!  As a soup addict, I love the tasty broth of this soup.  All of the food is  fresh, and the portions are huge.

Just writing this makes me want to return to Cafe Max soon.

Blessings to you and yours,

Oh, BTW – they only take cash or American Express cards.  There is an ATM machine on site, but thought you need to know so you can plan accordingly.

Also, they are open from 10:30 am – 2:30 pm weekdays – lunch only.  On Saturdays they have salads available for carry out from 10:30 am – 1:30 pm.  They are closed on Sundays.
