Sunrise

Woke up early this morning with an old hymn running through my head – Make Me a Blessing.  It would not leave – honestly!  Then I felt blessed by remembering a hymn that I had not thought of in many many years.  It was my morning prayer.

Out in the highways and byways of life,

Many are weary and sad;

Carry the sunshine where darkness is rife,

Making the sorrowing glad.

Make me a blessing, make me a blessing,

Out of my life may Jesus shine;

Make me a blessing, O Savior, I pray,

Make me a blessing to someone today.

Then another wonderful thing happened.  Try to follow this.  There is a picture under our stairs.  This morning there was a reflection in that picture of the most glorious sunrise.  I do not remember seeing a reflection in that picture ever before, but there it was.  I ran to get Trusty Camera.  The sky was ablaze with shades of glorious color.  (At this moment, I wish I were a poet and could describe what I saw.  Pictures will have to suffice.)

I ran back inside to get Ever-Lovin’, but by the time we returned, the sky was already changing.

Grey clouds were creeping in, but there were still streaks of color.

What a way to begin a day of Thanksgiving.

When I see God’s handiwork, it brings to mind Psalm 19:1.

The heavens declare the glory of God;

the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

And then I think of Romans 1: 20

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

Blessings to you and yours,
