If you are like we were, and have never been to New York City, I have a few more travel tips to share.

We booked an all day Gray Line Tour that went past many of the major landmarks in New York City.

I am somewhat conflicted about this tour (I would probably give it a score of 4/5).  We did see a lot, the tour guide was knowledgeable, but sometimes I missed what I was suppose to see.  (Maybe it was my fault, but I don’t think so.)

Included in this tour was a harbor tour where we passed by the Statue of Liberty.  One can not help but be moved by the sight of this symbol of freedom.  On our next trip, I do want to visit Ellis Island.

The tour ended with tickets to visit the Top of the Rock (Rockefeller Center).  Seeing the city lights from this vantage point was breathtaking.  Highly recommended.  They say the lines at The Top of the Rock are shorter than the lines at the Empire State Building plus from the Top of the Rock you have a view of the Empire State Building.

This gate might be near the Frick Collection Museum.  Then again, it might be a pretty gate that I liked.

The Frick Collection is highly recommended.  Photography was not allowed, but go to their website to get an idea of the masterpieces contained in this home.  Click HERE to visit their website.  You will be amazed.

Friend Carolyn recommended that we visit The Plaza and dine at the food court in the basement – something we could afford.

The food was gorgeous.  We had soup, quiche, and a salad.  Everything was delicious.  Thank you Carolyn for telling us about this. Highly recommended.

Also in The Plaza  basement is the Eloise at The Plaza store.  Be still my heart.  This cute shop is based on the Eloise at The Plaza books.  They also have an area reserved for tea parties.

Directly across the street from The Plaza are the carriages that will take you through Central Park.  This would have been better on a prettier day.  Ww will try again on our next visit.  New flash:  Bill de Blasio, the new mayor of New York City, plans to discontinue the carriage rides in Central Park.  Perhaps antique style electric vehicles will take their place.

Being in New York City is like being on a movie set.  The Mr. and The Mrs. encouraged us to visit Grand Central Terminal, and I am glad we did.

The terminal building is like a work of art.

Commuters and tourist can shop at the many shops at Grand Central Terminal.  Local artist are featured in many of the shops that are like booths.  There are also many other mainstream business along the corridors.

Our heartfelt thanks to friends who shared their experiences with us about what to see and do in New York City.  We do appreciate the information.
