On the northeast corner of Preston Road and Forest Lane is Woodlands American Grill.  They make excellent coffee.

Now I am NOT an expert on coffee.  I will go to coffee houses, but they are not on my regular radar.  Since the first time I dined at Woodlands, I have wanted to return to drink more of their coffee.  For some of you that like full bodied, robust coffee with many additions, this probably isn’t the coffee for you.  But…since I drink coffee black, this is just the way I like it.

As you enter the restaurant, there is a waterfall wall.  The restaurant’s decor gets its inspiration from Frank Lloyd Wright’s Falling Water House.  There is stone, hardwood floors, and clean modern lines.   It is a treat to dine here.  The atmosphere is more urbane, and the prices are also.

The food is delicious and blog worthy.  On this day, I ordered fish and chips ($15.00).  Sweet Mother of Pearl – I do love the presentation.  The fish and chips were nestled in a napkin.  The fries were lightly seasoned, and the fish was lightly breaded.  Very tasty!  I would order this again.

Ever-Lovin’ ordered the cheeseburger ($12.00) because it came with sweet potato fries, and he happens to really like sweet potato fries.  Good choice.  Sweet potato fries must be a little difficult to do right, because so many times they are limp and tasteless.  Not these.  They were excellent.  Ever-Loving’s burger was cooked to his liking and was given his seal of approval.  See the pickles on top of the burger?  Yummy!

We did order dessert – so we could have more coffee.  That is the truth, and it gave me more to blog about.  The caramel banana bread pudding was very good but not our favorite bread pudding.  The waiter sort of tried to talk us out of it, and maybe we should have changed our minds.  Everything served at Woodlands is served with a flourish.  I love their presentations.

Woodlands is a special place to dine.  The decor is beautiful and relaxing, and the delicious food is served with impressive presentation.

At the end of our meal, we were “sweetened up” with chocolate – amazingly good chocolate.  That is a nice touch.

ALSO – don’t forget.  They serve excellent coffee.

Blessings to you and yours,

Woodlands serves brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.  On the brunch menu are crab cakes Benedict’s and blueberry pancakes.  I am putting their brunch on my “Want to Go List.”
