The Austin Antique Mall

It is like the Odd Couple – Felix and Oscar – when two different businesses share the same building.  Just like the movie – it makes me laugh. While in Austin I noticed an Allergy Clinic that shared space with a Subway restaurant – strange but true.  The Austin Antique Mall is in the same building with Playland Skate Center.  It is different, but it works.  In a large metal building on McCann Drive, the Playland Skate Center occupies the front part of the building, and The Austin Antique mall is in the back.  (They do have separate entrances.)  When I noticed this arrangement, I laughed and did not know what to expect, but If you enjoy shopping for antiques/collectibles, this mall is worth visiting.  They claim to be the largest mall is Austin.

Booths were filled with vintage finds.

And as usual, many were having sales.

Super Sister pointed this lamp out to me.  It is so unusual.  The base is a vintage water sprinkler.  How neat is that?

A flying pig.  Be still my heart.  I have a thing for flying pigs.  Is it something about impossible dreams?  This one was super cute, and almost came home with me.

One dealer in particular caught my attention – RedRover Alley.  Her tag line is Bringing Europe Over.  (Like Red Rover, Red Rover let Europe come over.)  In fact, this dealer has at least two booths in the mall.  She has “found” (vintage) items as well as some new decorative items for sale.

The statuary reminds me of museum pieces.

How about some bagpipes?

I do love this mirror with the chippy paint and the sheep in the pasture.

I really wanted this Paris porcelain cake stand.  In fact, it went to the front, but then I thought of my bazillion cake stands, and didn’t get it.  Trying to be responsible.

The neat thing about RedRover Alley is that it is also online.  Click HERE to shop.  (They do not know me.  Just sharing.)

Super Sister found a couple of things to take home.  I wish I had a picture of her red felt hat.  It goes perfectly with her red coat.  A great find.

Be still my heart!  This precious child’s tea set came from The Austin Antique Mall.  Super Sister’s dear friend gave it to her as a gift.  Wow!  There are wonderful things to be found at this mall.  Looking forward to going again.

Blessings to you and yours,

The Austin Antique Mall is open 7 days a week from 10 – 6.  They have over 100 dealers so there are lots of choices.
