Kolache Station Bakery – Plano, Texas

I LOVE to get recommendations from my ultimate cheerleader MarshaChristmas.  She is a wonderful support to me and Lanabird.  MarshaChristmas gets out and about more than anybody I know, and she knows when places are good.  Recently she emailed me with not one but three suggestions of places I might like to try.  All three of these establishments are at Parker and Independence in Plano, Texas.

To be honest, I had noticed this Kolache Station Bakery.  One of our favorite burger restaurants is Country Burger, and the Kolache Station Bakery is next door to Country Burger.  I had never visited this bakery because it was always closed when we made the journey to eat at Country Burger.  (Does that make sense?)

MarshaChristmas raved about the kolaches and the nice people who wake up early each morning to make them.  It was a good sign when there were many cars in the parking lot since Kolache Station Bakery was the only place opened at that time of day.

Sweet Mother of Pearl – the little pillows of dough filled with various jams reminded me of jewels.  MarshaChristmas mentioned that the Kolache Station Bakery placed fourth at the Kolache Festival in West, Texas last year.  That is amazing.  You know how tough that competition had to be.   A Plano, Texas koaoche bakery beat out no telling how many other Czech bakeries for this honor.  I think it speaks very well of them.

They also make the most divine looking sweet rolls.  We did not order any, but we noticed that several other customers did.  You can also preorder mini-cinnamon rolls.  I love mini-cinnamon rolls on a brunch table.

The cutest and most polite young man (He is the owner’s son.) helped us with our order.  It was hard to choose.

Ever-Lovin’ chose apricot, cherry, and sausage kolaches.

I got cream cheese,  strawberry, and sausage kolaches.  MarshaChristmas was right.  These are wonderful kaloches.  I am here to tell you – It is worth a trip to Plano for these delicious treats – plus, it is a lot closer than having to drive to West, Texas.  The nice men sitting at the table next to us mentioned that they had been coming to the Kolache Station Bakery for twenty or more years.  They mentioned that the present owners bought it maybe 6 or 8 years ago, but they couldn’t tell any difference when the “new” owners took over.  I thought that was a wonderful recommendation.

This information was on the bakery window.  It is very interesting how many fewer calories and fat grams a kolache has than a yeast donut.  Every little bit helps.

MarshaChristmas mentioned that there was a freezer by the front door stocked with frozen kolaches and sweet rolls.  These are a bargain.  We brought some home, and it is so easy to warm them in the microwave for breakfast.

Kolache Station Bakery is not opened on Mondays.  MarshaChristmas says they have a 24 hour phone line for special orders.  That is a good thing.

Blessings to you and yours,

Thank you MarshaChristmas for the tip.  I will be sharing more of her suggestions on future blogs.

HERE is the link to their website with the phone number for special orders.

As usual, Kolache Station Bakery does not know me.  I am just sharing.
