A Home Filled with Vintage Treasures

Mike and Day are dear friends that we have known since our boys were young.  Many adventures have been shared with Day.  I have wanted to share her home with you for sometime.

Day

Mike and Day’s home is the most personal home I have ever visited.  The phrase – “If walls could talk.” certainly applies to their home.  Day should be writing this blog because the items in her home have so much meaning to her and her family.  Come inside, and I will try to give you a sense of what I mean.

Day

In the entry, dear family photographs fill the shelves.  Many of these photographs are of her parents and grandparents.  I love the way she has preserved them.

Day

In another corner of the entry, an estate sale find also holds family photographs and treasures.  Day loves the search for vintage treasures.

Day

All of the vintage family portraits are precious to Day.  The stories she shares about each picture are very touching.  I love the sisters collage on the left.

The silver compote filled with plates exemplifies the person aspect of the items in her home. Each plate in the compote has a backstory – who, what, when, where.  Not a single plate is there just because it is pretty.  Day has saved these plates because they have special meaning to her.  I like it.  I love it.

Another sentimental heirloom is the shelf clock in the hallway.

In the kitchen, Day displays her collection of vintage kitchenware.  The large red Pyrex bowl is seldom seen.

The collection of figural creamers is wonderful.  Aren’t they cute!

Cottage ware pieces adorn the antique hutch in the breakfast room.

Day

More vintage pieces – pie plates, a printed metal cake carrier, tea pots, and more – top her cabinets.

Day

I love this idea.  Vintage glassware pitchers are hung from a pot rack over her pantry door.

Day

Be still my heart.  This bookshelf is filled with wonderful vintage toys, books, and collectibles.

Day

I can’t help but be nostalgic when looking at these childhood memories.

Day

What a neat old train.  I really love the lamp post and railroad crossing sign.

Day

This is the view from their back patio. Some kind of wonderful!   Their home backs up to a golf course, and it is beautiful.

Blessings to you and yours,

I must share this with you about Day.  It is a little strange.  I have NEVER and I mean NEVER known anyone who has connections to so many people.  You have heard about six degrees of separation?  I honestly believe there would be about two degrees of separation for Day.  Trust me.  She probably knows you or someone close to you.
