Once a Brentfield Bobcat – Always a Brentfield Bobcat.

One of the highlights each spring is when graduating seniors return to Brentfield Elementary for the Bobcat Breakfast hosted by the sixth grade class.  For so many of these students, the friendships they made in grade school have continued throughout their high school years.  Teachers and parents (some with tears in their eyes) also attend this celebration.  Several teachers that have retired or moved to other districts make an effort to return with well wishes.

The sixth grade mothers did an excellent job.  There were gorgeous fresh flowers, muffins, bagels, breakfast burritos, fresh fruit, coffee, and orange juice.  Those in attendance enjoyed the food and the chance to visit.

A slide show brought back fond memories.

This was the group of “The Class of 2014”. Mr. Lemmons mentioned that this was the largest group we had ever had.

Each senior offered advice to the sixth graders.  “Don’t procrastinate.”  “Your parents really do want the best for you.”  “Take AP math.  Mrs. Hughes will have you well prepared.”  “Be true to yourself.”  “Be involved in extra-curricular activities.  It will look good on your resume, and you will make good friends.”

It was wonderful to see what these students have accomplished, and to hear their plans for the future.

This young man had cancer in the third grade.  Hats were sold as a fundraiser for him.  How wonderful to see him again.

There were some students that are not easily forgotten, and you are proud to see them on this stage.

This was funny.  The young man on the left gave this advice, “Plan ahead.”  He bought an extra large Bobcat t-shirt when he was in sixth grade so he could wear it when he returned as a senior.

How heartwarming it was to see and visit with former students.  They are beautiful and so smart.

Hot Rod and friends were great hosts and took their assignments seriously.  It is hard to believe that in six years, they will be on that stage giving advice.

Blessings to you and yours,
