Niagara Falls – First Impressions

Back in the days a trip to Niagara Falls was considered the ultimate romanic honeymoon. (Or so I thought.)   In later years, the majesty of the powerful falls intrigued me.  Going to see this spectacle of nature was akin to visiting the Grand Canyon. Such a force of nature was meant to be seen, so Niagara Falls was on my “Want to Do” list.

To my surprise and delight, Ever-Lovin’ offered for us to take a trip to Niagara Falls as an anniversary get-away.  Sweet Mother of Pearl – dreams do come true.

We had heard that the view of the falls was better from the Canadian side, and so we booked a room at Sheraton on the Falls in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.

As we crossed the bridge, we could see our hotel.  There it was – right on the river.  That seemed to be a good thing.

I thought we would never get across the bridge.  It takes a long time for the customs agents to check and chat with each car.  All this time, we could hear the falls, but we could not see them from inside our car on the bridge.

Be still my heart!  We turned the corner, and this was my first glimpse at the mighty falls.  I am like a kid at moments like this.  I get so excited.

Finally, we arrived at the hotel, and the nicest thing happened.  We had reserved a room with a “city view” because the “falls view” rooms were considerably more expensive.  When we opened the door to our room, this is what we saw.  Oh my, oh my!  We had the most wonderful view of the falls.  We think the sweet girl at the desk upgraded our room when she learned that we were in Niagara Falls to celebrate our anniversary.  Whatever the reason, the fact of being able to see the falls from our room made the trip for me.  With the window opened, you could hear the thundering falls.  I loved that sound so much and kept the window opened at every opportunity.

This was just the beginning to a wonderful trip.  Will share more later.

I am blessed.

Blessings to you and yours,
