Niagara Falls Up Close

From the Canadian side of Niagara Falls we had an excellent view of the American Falls, Bridal Falls, and the Horseshoe Falls (Canadian).

But to see Niagara Falls up close, we visited Niagara State Park in good ol’ USA.  Seeing the American flag flying always warms my heart.  It was hard to believe that this river would soon be part of the powerful Niagara Falls.

Niagara Falls

I was surprised at the height of Niagara Falls.  I thought they would be taller – they are the fifth tallest falls.  BUT – They are the most powerful falls.  Just imagine 75,000 gallons of water going over the American Falls each second.  This is after much water is diverted and used for hydroelectric power.  Diverting the water also slows the erosion of the falls.

Niagara Falls

Oh my!

Niagara Falls

Be still my heart.  God’s promise.

On the Maid of the Mist – a boat that takes you to the base of the falls.  We could feel the spray and hear the liquid thunder.  What power.  I told one of the crew members that I really thought they should have been playing America the Beautiful as we rode to the edge of the falls.

At the base of the Horseshoe Falls we were covered with mist.  It was an awesome sight to behold.

What a beautiful majestic sight.  I could not help but think that our God is even more powerful than these falls.  It made me think.

Blessings to you and yours,
