Amberjax at Trinity Groves

Trinity Groves was on my “Want to Do” list.  There have been press releases, reviews, and blog posting about this new area across the Mary Hunt Hill Bridge in West Dallas.

Bridge

You cross the bridge, exit on Riverfront, and you are there.  Phil Romano appears to have a successful beginning with the Restaurant Concept Incubator Program.  Chefs and restauranteurs are encouraged to submit ideas for innovative restaurants, and then they are given support in developing their concepts.  Just being in the area is exciting, and this is wonderful for West Dallas.

Trinity Groves

Restaurants and shops occupy the space that was once warehouses.  The decor has the industrial feel.  I love the red neon lights in the breezeway.

On this day we had lunch reservations for the seafood market and restaurant Amberjax.  I am glad we had reservations, because the restaurant was crowded.

I loved the inside of the restaurant with the neon swordfish.  As you can tell, the patrons were generally business men, but later a few more ladies arrived.

The fish market is a central part of this establishment.  Fresh fish is added daily to the cases.  The restaurant does not smell which means that they really do carry fresh seafood.

The large blackboard wall highlights the fresh seafood, side dishes, drinks and desserts offered each day.  There is also a table menu with more standard offerings.

We ordered the Cracker Dippers as an appetizer.  This was fantastic.  The three dips consisted of Cajon crab and shrimp spread, a smoked salmon spread, and sundered tomatoes with feta.  Yummy!  I would certainly order this again.

Fish pitchers filled with tea were on each table.  I thought these pitchers so cute.  I think they sell them.

Carolyn ordered the Striped Bass with Pineapple Salsa.  It was delicious. (She let me have a taste.)  For sides she ordered mushrooms and green beans.  The sides are handmade, and she gave both of these a thumbs up.

MarshaChristmas is still the adventurous soul in the group (If you ask me.)  She ordered the Tuna.  Even though it looks rather raw, she said it did not taste raw.  She liked it very much.  She also liked her mushrooms and greens.

Maybe I was the wimp.  I ordered Grilled Salmon, because I like salmon.  It was delicious.  The grits were good, but I really liked the cole slaw.

We enjoyed our food at Amberjax, but the noise level in the restaurant makes it almost impossible to carry on a conversation.  That was frustrating, and we were glad when we got outside.

There are other restaurants that I am looking forward to trying at Trinity Groves.  We had dessert at Kate Weiser Chocolates – that will be another blog.  Stay tuned!

Blessings to you and yours,
