It is official.  Hot Rod had a milestone birthday – He turned thirteen this past weekend.  Yes, that is 13 as in one ten and three ones.ˈ  THərˌtēn – the number following twelve and preceding fourteen. It is a cardinal number.   It is the sum of 6 and 7.   It is 7 less than 20,  I could continue, but you get the idea.  The important fact is that it ends with TEEN – as in teenager.

When told that his uncle had been sad when he turned thirteen (Uncle had the Peter Pan syndrome and wanted to stay young forever), Hot Rod said, “I don’t think I will have any trouble with that.”  And I do not think he has or will.  He is enjoying the prospect of being a teenager.  First reality was when we went to celebrate a birthday supper.  He can no longer order off the kids menus.  Heaven forbid – He even mentioned that he would be learning to drive in a couple of years.

I love this boy so very much.  How well do I remember staying up all night waiting for his entrance into this world.  It seems as if it was yesterday.

Some of his friends gathered at Shadowlan to play Minecraft.  Minecraft is a computer game about breaking and placing blocks. The young people had a grand time and were totally engaged in playing the game.

Birthday cupcakes were so cute with Minecraft symbols as decorations.

I feel conflicted.  I hate to see him grow up, but I am excited to see him grow and mature.
