Boo-hoo. Adult children who have birthdays can make one depressed. Number One Son had a birthday. There is no way he can be … because that would mean that I am …. No Way!
I remember the morning he was born in an almost isolated military hospital room in Germany. (The nurses were changing shifts, and wanted to go home, so they left me alone. Ever-Lovin’ was driving around lost in a German town he had never before visited, and at that moment – I wanted my Momma.) All ended well. He was born, and I was so proud of him.
Now it was time to celebrate his birth once again. The family gathered, and Chuy’s was the restaurant of choice for the party. It had been a month of Sundays since I had last visited Chuy’s.
Please realize that the lighting is dim, and the pictures are funky colors, but you maybe you can get an idea of our time together. First things first. Every Tex-Mex restaurant is judged by their chips and salsa. The chips at Chuy’s were thin and fresh, and the hot sauce was tasty and spicy. We also ordered some house-made tortillas that were wonderful.
The decor at this Chuy’s is interesting. The walls are filled with portraits.
Hubcaps cover the ceiling in one room.
But we came to eat, and we waited for over an hour on a Saturday night for the privilege. That being said – We had to wait because Chuy’s is a popular place that serves better than average Mexican food. “The Big as Yo’ Face” been and cheese burrito was a vegetarian choice.
Another “Burrito as Big as Yo’Face” had a sour cream sauce that was not too spicy.
The Chuychanga is a fried flour tortillia filled with chicken, cheese, green chilies, and cilantro. It is one of their signature dishes, and Jenny loved it.
Wow! The Lite Plate had what I like – a crispy taco, guacamole, and queso. How good is that?
The quesadilla was filled with gooey cheese and came with sides of guacamole, sour cream, and pico de Gallo.
Others at the table ordered traditional combination plates. Everyone enjoyed their food.
I am here to tell you – I do not think it will not be a month of Sundays before we return to Chuy’s. I now understand why it is such a popular place.
Blessings to you and yours,
Happy Birthday Number One Son! I am still proud of you.
