Super Sister was the first person to tell be about cooking corn on the cob in the husk in the Microwave. Yes, that is correct. You do not have to shuck the corn before you cook it. You cook the fresh corn with the husk and silks intact. She raved about this, and recently I tried it.
Sweet Mother of Pearl – It was hard to believe, but it really worked. There was no need shuck the corn or have a big pot of boiling water. Fresh ear of corn + Microwave = sweet juicy corn.
Take a fresh ear of corn. I washed it – just because.
Place said ear of corn in your handy dandy Microwave. Set the timer for 4 minutes (on high power). Press start, and let it do its thing.
Ding! Corn is done. It is that easy.
Warning: Use an oven mitt to remove the HOT corn from the Microwave.
Cut off about an inch of the stalk end of the corn (the wide end). I found it best to use the serrated bread knife from my knife set. You still need to use the hot pad to hold the HOT corn while you do this.
Now, this is the magical part. Squeezing the top end of the corn, and the corn slips easily out of the husk. Be still my heart! It is amazing.
It is clean with no silk to be found. (Okay, I found three little pieces of silk on my corn, but I would have found those even if I had shucked it.) Not only is this super easy to do, but the corn is juicy and delicious. Slather it with butter. Sprinkle on salt and pepper, and you are good to go.
Try it. You will be amazed.
Blessings to you and yours,
Thank you Super Sister for this “recipe”.
Adjust cooking time for your Microwave. Four minutes is what works for me. I have read anywhere from 2-4 minutes with 3-4 minutes being mentioned most often. We have cooked two ears together for 8 minutes, and it worked well.
